An open letter to Apple

Dear Tim

I am driving to Sheffield today. I want to update my TomTom, so I have logged into my iMac to do so.
I have just waited for twelve minutes while my computer loads applications and opens websites I was looking at yesterday.
Yesterday, I was listening to Spotify - today, I have the radio on.
Yesterday, I was researching on the internet and had three different pages open - today, I just want to update my TomTom.
Yesterday, I was editing audio in Audacity - today, I just want to update my TomTom.
Yesterday, I was adding tracks to iTunes - today, I just want to update my TomTom
Yesterday, I was tweeting and Facebooking and Skyping and iMessaging - today I just want to update my TomTom.

There is much to love about Lion. It is, as far as I am concerned, the most stable operating system ever. Once up and running it is speedy. It has some really well designed features.

But re-open windows on re-start is not one of them!

I can see that it would be useful if your computer crashed in the middle of a piece of work - but my computer never crashes!

I have just wasted fifteen minutes of my life - all because my daughter, thoughtfully turned the computer off for me, but didn't think to remove that stupid little tick (check) in the log-off confirmation dialogue.

All I am asking for in 10.7.4 is a check box in System Preferences which allows me to turn off this so-called "feature" once and for all.

Please?

Yours

Tim
